Hi! I am Alexandra Vivas the current student intern for the marketing department. I am a double major in Marketing and Apparel Design & Merchandising, with a concentration in merchandising. This fall, I am starting my fourth year at SFState. My experience in creating websites for both school projects, and my personal website portfolio sparked my interests in this internship. This year, the marketing department has three internship roles: social media manager, website manager, and marketing researcher. In my role of website manager, I am creating new pages with relevant information for students. The website redesign will allow students to easily find information on advising, study abroad and more. I have created new videos on classes needed to graduate and advice on what electives to take. I am also part of the internship elective course. The elective course, MRKT 567, allows you to gain 3 credits for an internship either at SFSU or an outside organization. In the course, you create a portfolio for all the work accomplished in the internship. There are also insightful workshops to attend about career professionalism. I highly recommend looking for internships that fit the course requirements. Not only will you learn skills in your internship, but MRKT 567 will help you use market those skills for future career endeavors.
